No one signals the start to summer quite like Jacquemus, whose founder Simon Porte Jacquemus hails from the South of France. Those whimsical shows under big blue skies; the barely-there spaghetti-strap dresses; and the seasonal St Tropez beach takeover, back for 2024. Taking post once again at barefoot-chic Indie Beach, the brand has opened a nearby boutique for the season, on Avenue Foche, showcasing the ‘Les Sculptures’ collection alongside St Tropez exclusives including a nautical striped Le Tote Marcel. There’s also somewhere to eat Jacquemus-style, with the takeover of St Tropez’s iconic brasserie La Renaissance. A weekly menu by chefs Ella Afallo and Ana Maria Cadena Chairs captures the best of seasonal South of France, while tables and chairs are given the yellow stripe treatment and Jacquemus-designed holiday product dots the windows, from a petanque bowl set and beach racquets to branded postcards.
Back in January, the collection was shown not far away, at gallery Fondation Maeght, where models Gigi Hadid, Vittoria Ceretti and Mona Tougaard showcased the sensual minimalism that Jacquemus is known and loved for amongst the sculptural works of Alberto Giacometti, a notable inspiration. Semi-sheer slip dresses in eggshell yellow, pleated coords and “les doubles sandales” are holiday essentials, while off-kilter shirting, animal-print pencil skirts and voluminous shoulder pads (tops; dresses; jackets) are the summer office wardrobe upgrades you didn’t know you needed until now.
