Loro Piana: Superior Blues
The most luxurious denim in the world? Meet Denim Silk, Loro Piana’s newest invention is one way to spend it well.
When Loro Piana gets behind a new fabric, the Italian based company goes all out to achieve a best-in-class textile that will blend into one’s style repertoire with purpose and ease. With expertise in vertical production (from yarn to finished product) dating back to 1924, the brand (now owned by LVMH) drives newness in highly technical innovations rather than trends. DenimSilk is a standout that nimbly criss-crosses our desires for a hard-working ultra-soft cloth that is as discreet as those much copied half zip sweaters. The fabric is a technical combination of 60 % denim and 40% silk that sees silk in the weft combined with the warp of indigo cotton which allows for a deep lustrous sheen. Find it in the top stitched Demore jacket and slim Nedar jeans and in the double-breasted collarless Catelyn with its feminine hourglass curve. It’s at the core of the latest collection, which is inspired by Japan, a dialogue that takes shape in kimono shaped linen cotton pieces, easy trousers and capacious quilted Armen topcoats. Talking of fabric making, the new Loom bag with a double handle and stitched in butter soft hides or canvas with leather detailing is a go anywhere style that speaks in discreet ‘in the know’ tones. The wearers will of course be going somewhere.
