Frieze Frenzy
From Frieze London to Masters, and installations about town, here's what not to miss, and the wardrobe to see you through
Where the younger galleries gather at Frieze, Focus is the spot to hunt down emerging talent. "Our Focus section reinforces Frieze London’s identity as a site of discovery," says Eva Langret, Director at Frieze EMEA. "Where new voices show how the city continues to set the pace for contemporary art." This year, Focus includes 35 galleries (12 years old or under), representing over 20 countries. Beeline for Gathering, where multi-disciplinary artist (and DJ) Christelle Oyiri presents an immersive installation blending playful, acid-green visuals with a critical exploration of chlordecone’s lasting impact on Martinique and Guadeloupe.
Catch the first exhibition of Spanish artist Cristina Iglesias since joining Hauser & Wirth’s roster of talent. Featuring three new large-scale bronze works that capture the artist’s craft of immersive and experiential environments through sculpture. Contrasting traditional materials of glass, steel, and bronze with water and sound, the results are captivating.
Kicking off during Frieze week, Rick Owens Furniture presents 'Rust Never Sleeps,' an exhibition curated by Michèle Lamy at Carpenters Workshop Gallery, Ladbroke Hall until February. A continuation of Owens’ exploration of primal materiality and architectural form, a highlight is the Antler Bed (2025), crafted from recycled elm wood, shown publicly for the first time in its raw form.
"The artists and galleries at this year’s fairs show how Frieze London and Frieze Masters together capture London’s global outlook and historic depth."
Mayfair's Annabel’s, George and Mark's clubs have each curated Frieze-inspired art installations to delight their diners. At George, dine amongst the works of Chris Levine, known for his immersive light installations, and hear the artist himself in conversation with curator and art advisor Katy Richfield. Annabel’s will showcase the sculptural work of Daniel Arsham, while Mark’s Club will exhibit six masterpieces tracing the evolution from Impressionism to Fauvism, curated in collaboration with Richard Green Gallery.
A Frieze London highlight, Artist to Artist champions collaboration as artists select others to be put in the spotlight. Now in its third edition, sponsored this year by Tiffany & Co., six established artists present solo projects by emerging voices.
The dunhill x Frieze Masters Talks auditorium will once again host an enticing line-up of conversations in art, available on the podcast of the British fashion house and Frieze in the weeks following. Curated for the first time by Arturo Galansino of the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, and featuring artists and designers including Émilie Hammen, Tracey Emin and Edward George, tune in now or later.
