Your signature aesthetic?

We like to feature single variety flowers in luxurious and undulating styles composed of our special hand-peeled roses, or peonies when in season. Dramatic branches of cherry blossom feature in the Springtime and the humble sweetpea in the Summer months.

Notes on the art of arranging?

Keep things elegant and stylish, never over-complicating the arrangements with too many varieties. Grandirosa plays on the classic rose bouquet with our signature hand-peeling technique - an art form one might compare to Japanese origami - that gives each petal a frilly, romantic and voluminous feel.

When it comes to colour, we lean to palettes of pinks, taupes, sands, terracotta and toffees - always tasteful.

The story behind the Grandirosa trio?

The three of us all met at university before I started a career as a solicitor, Stuart as an engineer, and Mary in marketing. Spending weekends working in the local flower shop, one day we took the leap of faith and opened a studio in Hackney Fields. On signing a contract with The Ned back in 2018, we knew we were onto something special. While we began with events, the pandemic drove a demand for single bouquets and that in turn prompted us to open a boutique on Chiltern Street last year.

The most exciting installation you have worked on?

We love the variety of what we do from the beautiful, classic installations for Rose Inc. to more intimate dinner parties and events. Each project pulls at the dynamic expertise of our founders.

We were recently commissioned to create a permanent installation at the Glenlivet Whiskey Distillery in Northern Scotland, taking over 70 metres of the property for the project. Thank God for Stuart’s knowhow in logistics and engineering!

The floral trend you are championing this Spring?

Cherry blossoms are only in season for a couple weeks a year and bring an extraordinary dimension to a bouquet. The blossom is symbolic of renewal and love and has a certain grandiosity with the long, birch stems able to stand alone or mix so beautifully with roses.
